Mr Dey commenced his ophthalmic training in the West Midlands before embarking on his higher training in London. He undertook Fellowships in Medical Retina/Uveitis and Medical Education at the prestigious Moorfield’s Eye Hospital and UCL Medical School where he was involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education in ophthalmology. During this time he obtained a Diploma of Medical Education and received UCL Medical Education Award and Moorfields Star Awards for his services to Medical Education.
He has over 15 years’ experience in Ophthalmology working in the NHS, and is currently a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Maidstone Hospital. Mr Dey’s primary sub-specialty is Medical Retina but has a special interest in Inflammatory and Infective conditions affecting the eye. He is currently the lead for Uveitic services at Maidstone. He is actively involved in training and regularly lectures at City University to junior ophthalmologists and optometrists. He is a member of the Training faculty at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the simulation lead for the KSS deanery which involves training cataract surgery.
He regularly undertakes charity work in India screening patients for ocular disease in rural villages where there are limited resources.
