KIMS Hospital, Maidstone, the largest independent hospital in Kent has invested £250,000 in new technology for its fifth operating theatre, meeting a growing demand for orthopaedic procedures.

Treating both private and NHS patients, KIMS Hospital, since opening in 2014, has seen a steady growth for its orthopaedic services. Working closely with some of the county’s leading Orthopaedic Consultants, the decision was made to invest in a new state-of-the-art air flow system for its fifth operating theatre.

KIMS Hospital, is the first hospital in the UK to install the Mediclean® Complanate UCV system from Brandon Medical, which improves clean air flow and ventilation in the operating theatre. This is particularly important for orthopaedic patients who have an increased risk of infection due to the nature of the surgery.

Simon James, CEO KIMS Hospital comments, “As the largest independent hospital in Kent we have an important role to play in delivering the healthcare services people require and supporting patient choice close to where they live. Investing in new technology and opening a new theatre shows our commitment to the people of Kent.  I’m also delighted, that by collaborating with local GPs and Consultants, we have ensured that our fifth operating theatre is equipped to treat additional orthopaedic patients and provide the highest standards of healthcare.”
